Composer Florie Namir explores possibilities of motivic work, both pitch and rhythmic. Florie is a winner of the John H. Rauch Competition and recipient of Diploma D’onore from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Italy. Her piece Dialogue for Two Pianos was praised by The Paul Hindemith Institute Frankfurt. The piece integrates unused sketches by Hindemith and is part of the Institute’s collection. In 2009, her piece R. II was selected for Prometheus Ensemble Composers Workshop in Antwerp, Belgium. She was Invited Composer at the Académie Musicale De Villecroze, France and the International Summer Academy of Music, Germany.

Her works have been performed worldwide by Juventas New Music Ensemble and Dinosaur Annex Ensembles (United States), Meitar Ensemble (Israel), Quartetto Mansi (Italy), Prometheus Ensemble (Belgium) and Trio Elixir (France), among others. Upcoming projects include a multi-movement piano piece for children/young adults and a piece for Akropolis Reed Quintet. 

Native of Israel, where she graduated her Bachelor’s from Tel Aviv University, she later received her Master’s from Rice University and is presently a Ph.D. candidate at Brandeis University and resides in Boston area.
